Word Cannot Open The Existing File Normal
In my experience both of these keys have caused Word to crash while trying to open documents. Then, I opened up other Word documents from the same location, my Desktop on the C:\ drive. And my memory is 2Gig RAM while running XP (I refuse to go the Vista route); so the O/S is very healthy. Open the Documents and Settings folder. For some reason Word kept creating the NORMAL file in the same location and because it was in a 'bad' area, couldn't read it. I am totally out of options of my own, other than to re-image the whole 'puter, which is out of the question. There are smaller feeds for specific sections of the site. Do you have multiple users working on this PC, if so, does the same thing happen to other userprofiles? As part of the upgrade, your old Word 2003 template may have been renamed to something like Normal11.dot. It solved the problem again. Normal.dotm Location Then, I found that I could now open the documents on my Document (D:\) drive. Per every website I read I re-named the old file and let Word create a new one. 2.

Maybe it was a Leprechaun thing; those little boogers have haunted me 'afore. All that installing and uninstalling is unlikely to achieve anything. I'll give this a try.
