All windows have a colormap, however, pixmaps only have colormap by default if they were created with a non-NULL window argument. At the bottom of your xstartup, you should have a line that says gnome-session& or "exec gnome-session&". Funny thing is I get the move and resize arrows (cursor), but the window does not respond. However, sometimes there are over-sized configuration dialogs or some strange behaviours of windows which move the title bar out of the screen. Kill the currently running kwin job. ~22> kill -9 21749 Click open the "Run command" action and type paste the "kwin". vi $HOME/.vnc/xstartup . The reason your solution worked was because the Compiz settings were being set to the defaults for Unity and Ubuntu Classic, so it naturally undid your messed up Compiz settings.
